at last December 4th !! i am proud for what i did... I planted two trees... :)
I don't know .. how it came into my mind.. for the past few years this thing was eating my mind.. i could have done this back home in india.. when i was doing my school or in my college... i had plenty of time..
or i could have done in bangalore ... but dint do..
probably i have wasted all these years.. It's very easy to say plant trees...but in practical it's not that easy...!!
the first thing is laziness!! which is the major ghost which haunts our mind and body!!
then comes the ignorance!!
why should I?
One afternoon ,after lunch.. went to washroom... something striked me... there was another guy who washed his hands and he took a bunch of tissues (Probably 5 to 6 ) and he used just like a soft touch and threw them in trash...
he repeated this twice!! (10 tissues) ... i noticed him couple of times later and he did the same thing again...
This made me think... then i decided to use less number of paper..
always wanted to tell him to use one or two tissue instead of 10 to 12 each time!! but i dint( Sad, I should have done this) When i wanted to tell him.. he had quit my work place!!
let me use less tissue!! i requested my team as well and my friends work colleagues!!
ofcourse people did gave wierd looks when i advise them !! I never bother!!
but this alone did not calm down my mind.. i was looking for some opportunity to plant a tree...
to be honest i was only thinking and i dint do much of research or any initiative until i came to UK.
but this thing was always in my mind... one fine day.. i came across the tree bristol!!
called them and expressed my interest ... december 4th an Event ...
December 3rd i had a hiking trip a 16Mile walk... ...infact was damn tired and slept off... till morning 9 i was in a dual mind... then i decided it's time for me... i should do this...
i got ready.. with legs paining of the hiking.. i reached there...
to my surprise... as i reached i saw an old lady around 60s she was digging a pit for a tree!!!!
All greeted me.. i then joined a ! Leighton and Bourn .. They had completed 50% when i joined them...
i helped them with the remaining 50%.....
Then we all three joined together for the next tree!! it drizzled a bit!! Expressing Cheers to the other groups... borrowing tools .. Digged a deep hole.. Planted a 10 Foot tall tree!! then filled with the soil!!
Created a support!! then covered the tree with the net for protection.. finally with the wood chunks for preventing from weed!! and here... we made it ...
we planted totally 17 trees that saturday!!
I felt great!! I did plant a tree... we had some queries and we clarified with the Tree Officer.. to check who water the trees... and who maintains it...
i was very much happy same as the other team members... Every one who gathered there were happy ... friendly... and had a satisfaction !!
Tree Bristol... prepared hot tea and some friends had brought cookies.. we all celebrated the day!!
My looooooooooong term wish came true!!
Looking forward for the next event... I will continue this!
